Fenland Flyers excel before enforced break
Young gymnasts competed in the Eastern Region Trampolining semi-finals on the weekend before coronavirus halted sporting activity.
All competitors from Fenland Flyers were very excited with being able to compete at the event in Hemel Hempstead, especially as their previous competition in Wisbech was cancelled due to Storm Ciara.
Flyers took 26 competitors, with Chloe Cowan, Matilda Pease and Lydia Plume competing in their first competition. All three coped amazingly well, with Chloe and Matilda placing second in their age groups.
Jayden Smith, Kieran Prpa and Bryony Colledge all competed in their categories for gymnasts with additional needs, and all place first in their groups.
Flyers' club level gymnasts competed extremely well in a tough field and although they may not have medalled, they all did the club proud and achieved the score required to move up to the next level of competition.
The best result in the trampoline section was 10-year-old Keira Fines, who competed at NDP Level 4 for the first time. Keira executed both her trampoline routine with confidence and precision, and her hard work paid of and put her in second place and guaranteed her a place in the finals in Birmingham.

In the Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) event, Fenland Flyers had 16 competitors. Although the club has only had a DMT for 18 months, the gymnasts are beginning to master this discipline and move up the competition ladder successfully.
At NDP Level 1, 9-10 girls, Keira Fines carried on her success from trampolining and placed first, with team mate Bailey Hanrahan second. Both secured their place in the Birmingham finals.
Also joining Keira and Bailey in the DMT Finals will be Charlie Colledge (NDP level 1 11-12 Boys), Bella Featherstone-Dance (Level 3) and Alana Pritchard (Level 4).
Head coach Adele Broda says she is extremely proud of all the club’s competitors. Because of COVID-19 it is not known when the finals will take place and the Flyers are unable to train.
