Wisbech Swimming Club travel to Thetford for Round 4 of the Junior Fenland League
A team of 20 Wisbech swimmers travelled to Thetford for Round 4 of the Junior Fenland League.
This was the first time that the majority of the team had visited this pool, while there were a few members missing - so there were a few different additions to the team.
There were some swimmers who were taking part in older age groups, yet they all swam incredibly well.
Although they did not all win all of their races, they earned valuable points towards the team total.
There were also some impressive personal best times on the day, with many swimmers achieving improvements between two and eight seconds over a 50 metre race.
24 Personal best times went to Harry McClure (3), Harrison Otter (3), George Warby (2), Isabella Burton (2), Holly Smith (2), Lily Wright (2), Harry Wilkshire (2), Madison Hicks, Jake Trundle, Luke Wilson, Grace Rayner, Esa Condon, Poppy Ryan, Sam Clements and Ebony Smith.
18 first places went to Luke Wilson (2), Holly Smith (2), Esa Condon (2), Madison Hicks (2), Esmai Smith (2), Lily Wright (2), Harrison Otter (2), Ebony Smith (2), Harry Wilkshire and Poppy Ryan.
Unusually, there were were no live announcements made throughout the evening due to some technical issues - and this made the swimmers try even harder as they did not know where they were placed.
These issues on the night meant that there were a few days’ tense wait for the result. It was worth the wait for Wisbech, however, who once again won on the night.
This means that they have won all four rounds so far. They are currently ranked at the top of the league.
This takes the team through to the A Final in September for one last round.
