Wisbech Town suffer 10-wicket loss to Sawston and Babraham in season opener
Wisbech Town got their Cambs & Hunts Premier League season off to the worst possible start on Saturday when they suffered a ten-wicket home defeat to Sawston and Babraham in Division One.
After being asked to bat, Wisbech recorded 202-9 from their 50 overs, the evergreen Gary Freear hitting 14 fours and three sixes as he opened the innings with a wonderful 108 from 138 balls.
But captain James Williams, who scored 39 from 55 deliveries before being run out, was the only other Wisbech player to reach double figures.
Yousuf Choudhary scored 125 from 118 balls and opening partner Julius Jackson 58 from 97 balls, both undefeated, as the visitors reached their target from 35.4 overs.
Other divisions start their fixtures over the next two weekends.
