Dave Polley seeks world title victory at BriSCA F2 Stock Car World Championship in King's Lynn
Manea’s Dave Polley faces a day of destiny at King’s Lynn this Saturday when he competes in the BriSCA F2 Stock Car World Championship.
The world title is one of very few in the sport which Polley has yet to win - and Saturday will see him grid in his 14th World Final.
His chances of bettering the third places which he recorded at Buxton in 2009, Skegness in 2010 and Mildenhall in 2016 have never been greater.
He is currently regarded as the quickest man around King’s Lynn and picked up a brace of wins the last time the formula raced at Lynn a couple of weeks ago.
When reflecting on his previous finals and how he thinks this year will go, Polley said: "I have come third three times before. However I think the closest I have ever come to winning it was at Taunton in 2013, I had just taken the lead when Gordon (Moodie) put Rob Speak in and the Speak car just caught me and it damaged the car slightly, I was going really well then, I do think if that had not happened I could well have won.
"As far as this year’s race is concerned I am at the stage now where I feel it is no longer something I am as desperate to win as in the past. I have got over all that where it is everything, now if it comes my way then great, if not well, there it is.
"I am in a decent position on the fourth row, I have done very little tarmac racing this year so Buxton was always a damage limitation exercise, before the race I was happy just to get in the ten and qualify but in the end I was a bit disappointed with third having led for a bit and only losing second in the closing stages.
"I like King’s Lynn and go well there, on paper it should be a good race, lots of the top people are near the front, I am keen and up for it so we will see."
His race starts at 5pm.
Reece Cox will be trying to join David in the main race through the Consolation Semi Final after failing to negotiate the Buxton Semi Final hurdle.
The 2L Stock Cars are also in action on Saturday for qualifying for the ORC Championship and looking to get a good grid position will be Sam and Tommy Parrin.
The ORC Championship itself takes place at King’s Lynn on Sunday (12pm) when the F2 Stock Cars will also be in action in their World Final revenge meeting.
