Fenland club enjoys string of successes at All Styles Karate GB National Kata Championships
The Wisbech Samurai karate squad enjoyed a string of successes at the All Styles Karate GB National Kata Championships.
A squad of 13 from Samurai attended the event at Dudley and returned home with an amazing total of 13 medals, including three gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.
Students, who are preparing for the upcoming WUKF World & European Championships, have been training and working so hard this year and the results in 2025 have been fantastic.
The squad have now won over 50 medals since January and are on target to beat last years total, and certainly our best in our 25 year history.
Regular training with the AKA National squad and the Samurai squad sessions has led to excellent results.
Top performer of the day was Nate Amps, 9, with two golds and a bronze. He won a gold ion the age group above his own, which was an exceptional effort.
The other medal winners were: Dawn Styles (gold and bronze), Jackson Carver (silver and bronze), Henry Asken (two bronzes)
Sanita Rovica-Vilkaja (silver), Abigail Swiderek (silver), Annika Rovica-Vilkaja (bronze), Patriks Rancans (bronze).
The team is currently preparing with the AKA GB Squad for the WUKF World Championships, in Sweden, in July and the WUKF Europeans, in Latvia, in October.
Sensei Steve King said: "I am so proud of the students hard work and results. They are a dedicated team and continue to improved so much. They are a pleasure to coach as are all, our students.
"Each time they compete, they not only represent themselves and Samurai Karate, they also represent the town of Wisbech with great pride.
"Our classes have grown this year as people have recognised the standards that we work to and the results we can achieve.
"We have created extra space for new students and have classes available six days a week as the only full-time Karate Dojo in Wisbech."
Classes take place at Thomas Clarkson Academy, Marshland Hall and Terrington. For class details, please contact Steve Sensei at: sensie@samuraikarateschool.co.uk
