March Town beat Newport Pagnell Town in United Counties League Premier Division South
March Town kept their faint hopes of a top seven finish alive with a brilliant 3-1 win at Newport Pagnell Town.
Lewis Hilliard gave the Hares a 17th minute lead last night, but Kieran Barnes hit back for the hosts, who are FA Vase finalists.
A draw in front of a 344-strong crowd would have been a positive result for March against their top three-chasing opponents, but Jack Friend had other ideas.
The striker proceeded to fire home in the 81st minute before adding another just four minutes later, earning a vital three points.
That took him to 20 league goals for the season.
It's now two wins in three for March, after picking up none in their previous eight league fixtures.
The result keeps the Hares in eighth spot in the United Counties League Premier Division South. They are four points behind Coventry United in seventh having played a game more, and have just four matches left themselves before the end of the campaign.
This Saturday, March face another trip to 14-placed GNG Oadby Town in what should prove a good opportunity to grab another three points.
Godmanchester Rovers, who languish in 15th, are up next after that, with the Hares playing host in that fixture on Monday evening.
