March Town United boss determined to end long drought without a trophy ahead of semi-final clash at Deeping Rangers
Ash Taylor has revealed his determination to deliver silverware for March Town United ahead of their Knockout Cup semi-final at Deeping Rangers on Tuesday night.
The Hares boss wants to end the club's 35-year wait for a trophy and knows they will be a step closer to achieving that if they can win at their Premier Division North hosts.
The last time March won any major honours came back in 1987/88 when they crowned champions of the old Eastern Counties League.
Looking forward to the last four-tie tie, Taylor said: "There's no beating around the bush it's the biggest game of our season.
"March Town United haven't won a trophy since the 1980s and that's something we're determined to put right.
"We want to reward the club and its supporters with a trophy for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
"We've got this far and we'll be doing everything to make sure that we don't throw it away now.
"We're under no illusions that it's going to be a very difficult game and now that Deeping are a very good side.
"We've had to do it the hard way getting to this stage and know it's going to be another challenge if we are to make it through to the final."
Either March Town United or Deeping Rangers will meet the winners of the other semi-final between Anstey Nomads and Sleaford.
The March boss was delighted with his side's display in the 2-1 victory at Coventry United on Saturday, where striker Craig Gillies on target with both goals.
If the Hares can take a point or more from their final home game against Desborough Town this weekend, they will guarantee themselves a top-seven finish in the table.
"It was one of our best performances of the season," admitted Taylor.
"There was something for us to play for as we wanted to finish above them in the table. Coventry United are a very good side so it was a terrific result.
"We played some really nice stuff and that's now five wins in our last six games, which is really good form.
"Credit to the players, they are the ones who have turned it around.
"They've come through some tough moments when it would have been easy for them to let the season fizzle out."
