Five goals for Easey as Tydd continue their great run




The Peterborough League Premier Division's top scorer Brad Easey hit five goals as Tydd continued their race away from the relegation area with a remarkable 6-3 victory at third place Stilton United.

Easey's goals made it 21 in just 14 games for the striker, with Jamal Nyang also on target as the LIncolnshire side made it three wins on the bounce to stay six points from the drop zone.

Second from bottom Leverington Sports aren't giving up without a fight though and they beat basement side Ramsey Town 2-0 at home for only their second league win of the campaign.

In Division One, Long Sutton Athletic remain just a point clear of the relegation area after losing 2-0 at Eunice Huntingdon. Wisbech Town Reserves had two players sent off as they went out of the Cup 4-3 at Whittlesey Athletic Reserves on Friday evening. The Fenmen were leading 3-1 at one stage and conceded the winner in the final minute.

Seven goals in 15 crazy minutes saw Leverington Sports Reserves lead 4-3 at Tydd Reserves at half time, with Marley Woods scoring a hat-trick and Grant Thompson also on target. However, Tydd dominated the second half, scoring four goals for a deserved 7-4 win that leaves them just two points from Division Two safety. Dan Cassidy and Mitch Johnson scored three each for Tydd, with Jordi Henson also on target.

In the Peterborough Junior Cup, Division Four side Leverington Sports A crashed out, beaten 10-2 at home by Division Three outfit Oundle Town Reserves.

Wisbech St Mary progressed to the second round of the Cambs County Premier League Knockout Cup with an impressive 1-0 win at Over Sports, William Hawes scoring the all-important goal just before the break.

But March Town United Reserves were beaten 4-3 at Witchford 96. Casey Logan and first teamer Jack Saunders had put the Hares into a 2-0 lead, but the home side battled back to lead 3-2 before Harry Biggs equalised. However, Witchford came back to score the winner.

AFC Emneth march into the next round of the William Cockell Memorial Cup after a 5-1 win at Bluntisham Rangers. Toby Allen grabbed a hat-trick to make it 24 for the season in 13 games, with Niall Burton and Jason Day also on target.

March Town A were beaten 5-2 at home by Great Shelford Reserves in the Percy Oldham Memorial Cup. The young Hares went 1-0 down against the run of play but equalised through a Ben Curry penalty to make it 1-1 at the break.

The visitors took the lead after a goalkeeping error and Liam Monaghan missed a decent chance to equalise before Shelford scored three in quick succession to make it 5-1. March rallied and Alfie Richardson made it 5-2, but March crashed out, with the scoreline perhaps flattering the visitors.

In Division 1B Benwick Athletic drew 2-2 at struggling Eynesbury Rovers Reserves, while Wimblington recorded a good 3-2 win against fellow 1B outfit Needingworth United in the Creake Charity Shield. A tightly contested game saw Nick Ward's second of the game win it in the final minute, Dale Richardson also on target.

Chatteris Town Reserves, of 2B, are through to the next round of the William Coad League Cup after beating 2A side Eaton Socon A 2-1, Jordan Johnson and Arnie Harvey on target. But 2B strugglers Manea United crash out after a 7-1 home defeat to Whittlesford United, also of 2A. Raymond Owusu Appiah netted for Manea.

Fen Tigers Engineers also exit the competition, losing 4-2 at The Eagle (Ely), Robbie Ryan and Will Terry getting their goals.

In the big John Ablett Cup game, AFC Emneth Reserves beat Outwell Swifts 4-3. Luke Whyatt, Callum Elsey, Ben Garner and Brendan Burton scored for the Honey Badgers, who had ten men for 50 minutes of the game. Jack Brand netted twice for Swifts and there was also an own goal.

In the same competition, Benwick Athletic Reserves were knocked out after failing to raise a team to play Isleham United Reserves.

Chatteris Town A are rock bottom of 4B without a win all season after a 4-2 home defeat to Manea United Reserves, who recorded only their second victory. Alfie Oakman scored from the spot for the Lilies and Ben Kimberley also netted, while Delano Lloyd (2), Liam Birch and Josh Brittin scored for United. In the same division, March Academy Adults went down 4-1 at Littleport Town Reserves.

Guyhirn were knocked out of the Reg Haigh and Arthur Peck Cup 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 home draw with Beach.

Marshland Saints are just three points behind North West Norfolk League Division One leaders Heacham Reserves after a 5-4 win at home to lowly Clenchwarton, Sam Cubberley netting twice and Callum Rogers, Dylan Rust and Brad Foxwell also on target. Their reserves were beaten 4-1 at Weeting Saxon in Division Two, Ivan Crisp scoring.
