Fenland runners test themselves in the Lake District
With the major UK marathon season fast approaching, many runners can be found honing those skills in pace management and mental resilience needed to tackle the still popular distance.
Others continue to get those much advocated long runs in, and where better than in the Lake District around Lake Coniston.
The 14-mile course starts and finishes on Lake Road close to the lake itself.
After starting, the course turns left and heads towards Haws Bank and onwards to Torver before another left turn and along the edge of the west side lake in a southerly direction.
After another left turn, it heads north on the east side of the lake towards High Nibthwaite. This side of the course stays very close to the lake's edge and offers stunning views of the lake and the surrounding countryside.
The course is not one for the fainthearted with an elevation gain of circa 1000ft, but the atmosphere and kind weather went a long way to making the race an enjoyable one.
Fenland Running Cub were well represented with 10 from the club making the five-hour, 253-mile journey, setting some very impressive times in doing so.
