Thorney the destination for Fenland Running Club members

As we now move into spring, the road racing season comes to life and for Fenland Running Club it was the Keith Hall Memorial 10km (Thorney) that attracted eight of its athletes.

On what was the event's 40th anniversary and the incorporation of the Master Championship, it attracted athletes from across the country, all seeking to run fast times on what is notoriously a flat and fast out-and-back course.

The race heads out of Thorney along quiet and closed roads before returning on itself 5km out.

The weather appeared to be just about perfect for such a race with cool temperatures and a light breeze that proved to be a stiff wind for the majority of the 5km return to the finish.

However, this did not prevent some early season impressive times with at least one of the Fenland runners, Sean Banks, running a 10km PB.

Fenland could also boast at getting three of its competing athletes into the top 60, a very impressive achievement, given the standards of the leading runners.
