Emneth Reserves win the derby but Outwell Swifts take the title




In the battle of the Cambs County League 3B promoted teams, AFC Emneth Reserves came out on top after a 5-2 win at champions Outwell Swifts on Tuesday.

Ethan Goodale (2), Toby Allen, Ben Garner and Conor Bird netted for the Honey Badgers, while Adan-Jay Lewis and Harley Murking scored for Swifts.

On Saturday, Swifts picked up the trophy after beating Lakenheath Casuals 4-0, Jack Brand netting twice to make it 25 from 26 games this campaign and Adan-Jay Lewis and Dylan Pevreall also on target. Lewis ended the season with 37 goals from 26 games.

Emneth ended their campaign with a 5-2 home win over Soham Town Rangers A, Josh Lester netting twice and Jake Hopkisson, Ben Garner and Roman Kotovics also on target. Garner ends the season with 31 goals from 18 games.

Eighth placed Wisbech St Mary rounded off their first season back in the Premier Division after relegation from Step 6 with an impressive 3-3 draw at third placed Cambridge University Press on Friday night, Saints equalising with the final kick of the game.

And in Senior A, undefeated champions AFC Emneth ended their season with a 5-2 win at Cambridge University Press Reserves on Saturday, Joe Reed (2), Toby Allen and Jason Day from the spot among the goals. Allen anded the season with 43 goals from 28 games.

March Town A secured a mid-table finish in Senior B after a 4-4 draw at Burwell on Wednsday. The young Hares were 3-0 down in 15 minutes but rallied late in the half to reduce the deficit through a Keaton Smith bullet header and a Liam Monaghan strike.

Alfie Richardson’s 11th goal of the season after the break equalised and Josh Bryant’ 20 yard strike made it 4-3 before Burwell equalised deep in stopppage time. March lost 5-1 at promoted Melbourn on Saturday.

Chatteris Town finish 10 points behind March, despite finishing the season with two wins in four days. On Wednesday they won 4-0 win at Great Shelford Reserves, Sam Bond, Jordan Johnson, Jack McLoughlin and Martin Saunders on target. Then on Saturday, third placed Comberton United were the victims, beaten 2-1.

Champions Wimblington ended their iB campaign with a 3-2 win at Gamlingay United, Alexander Knowles with his 27th of the season in 23 games, Martin Porter and Nick Ward with his 11th of the campaign scoring on Thursday evening.

Benwick Athletic finish just outside the drop zone. They lost 4-1 at home to Over Sports Reserves on Wednesday, Dillon Stevens netting.

In 4B, Upwell Town won 5-1 at March Academy Adults on Tuesday evening, Ray Points scoring twice and Lewis Birchmore, Shane Kinight and sub Aaron Field scoring.

Goals from Kai Scott-Henson and Joe Waters saw Doddington Three Lions win 2-0 at bottom side Chatteris Town A on the same night, while Guyhurn were beaten 4-2 at Alconbury Reserves, Ryan Clarke and Bean Pearce netting.

On Thursday, Three Lions triumped 5-2 at Upwell Town to clinch promotion in their first season, with goals from Liam Brady (2), Kai Scott-Henson, Jake Stockbridge and Joshua Ingram. Brady has netted 14 goals in all from 16 games and Stockbridge 14 from 30.

March Academy then had a wonderful 6-5 win at champions Beach on Saturday, Michael Croucher bagging a hat-trick and Andrew Abbott, Barry Brooks and Todd Chapman also scoring.

In the Premier Division of the Peterborough League, Leverington Sports lost 2-1 at home to title chasing Moulton Harrox on Saturday, but are safe from the drop unless Tydd can reverse an 11 goal difference deficit on the last game of the season. Tydd entertain Moulton on Tuesday, with Sports at home to Oakham United next Saturday.

Wisbech Town Reserves ensured their Division One safety, goals from Declan Foster and Ika Kortua beating Netherton United Reserves on Tuesday evening, while Abiyu Dirbeba and Harley Murkin scored in a win over Wittering Premiair Reserves on Thursday.

Tydd Reserves are relegated despite a 6-2 home win over Kings Cliffe on Saturday, but Leverington Sports Reserves escape the drop, despite losing 2-0 at FC Hampton.

Sutton Bridge United drew 2-2 at Warboys Town Reserves on Saturday in Division Three, Liam Bills and Ben Partridge with his 10th ofscoring, while relegated Long Sutton Athletic Reserves lost 3-1 at home to Deeping United Reserves.

In Division Four, Leverington Sports A lost 3-0 at home to AFC Malborne on Wednesday evening.

Marshland Saints are through to the semi-finals of the North West Norfolk League George Grave Cup after a 1-0 win at Docking Rangers on Tuesday. Their reserves lost 2-1 at West Winch William Burt Centre Reserves on Wednesday in the quarter finals of the Charlie Day Cup, sub Ivan Crisp on target. On Saturday they lost 3-1 at North Lynn in Division One, Dylan Hopkin scoring.
