Parson Drove continue great start to season




Robbie Harris' Parson Drove continued their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 2-0 home victory over Netherton United this afternoon.

The visitors came into the game with a 100 per cent Peterborough League premier division record but Drove now leapfrog them into second place. Aaron Eyett opened the scoring for Drove with a 15th minute penalty and substitute George Smith got the second three minutes from time.

Things didn't go so well for fifth place Long Sutton, however, as they were beaten 2-1 at home against Peterborough North End Sports, Ben Partridge netting for The Magpies.

Leverington Sports picked up their second point of the season with a 1-1 draw at ICA Sports, Lewis Day scoring.

In Division One, Tydd are bottom with four defeats out of four, but only went down 2-1 to high flying Oundle Town, Tim Magnus netting for Tydd.

Wisbech Town Reserves fell to their first defeat of the season in Division Two, going down 3-1 at high-flying Glinton & Northborough, but there was better news for Long Sutton Athletic Reserves, who pulled off their first victory, 5-1 at bottom-of-the table Oakham United Reserves. Goals came from Jack Greenacre (2), Jack Semmence and Lewis Machin.

Leverington Sports Reserves also won for the first time this season, and they did it in style, thrashing bottom side Stamford Lions Reserves 13-1 in Division Three. Goals came from Steve Takam (4), Tyron Elms (3), Phil Large (3), Lewis Bass, man of the match Lewis Holmes and Reece Gibson.

There was also a first win for Tydd Reserves, with an impressive 4-2 victory at Peterborough City, goals coming from Luke Want, Ben Gibbons, Grant Thompson and Louie Rees.

In Division Four, Long Sutton Athletic A were defeated 2-1 at Whittlesey Athletic A, Will Kirkham scoring their goal, while in Division Five, Sutton Bridge are up to second place after a 3-0 home win over Kings Cliffe A. Goals came from Kurt Scott (2) and Joseph Sutton.

In the Cambridgeshire County League, there was a first defeat of the season for March Town Reserves, who were beaten 5-2 at home against AFC Barley Mow in Kershaw Senior A, Mazurek and Sakovich getting the goals.

In Kershaw Senior B, Wisbech St Mary Reserves recorded their first win of the season, 5-2 over St Ives Rangers.

In Kershaw Junior 1B, Outwell Swifts made it three wins from three games when they triumphed 3-1 at Fenstanton, Luke Plumb netting twice and Ben Jimson getting the other. AFC Walpole marked the delayed start to their campaign with a 4-2 win at Alconbury.

A Billy Munns hat-trick and two goals from Benjamin Matthews also saw Chatteris off the mark, beating Ely City A 5-0.

In Kershaw Junior 2B, March Town A stay on top of the table after thrashing bottom placed Wimblington 5-1, Josh Bryant, Kyle liddy, James Monaghan and Adam Mills (2) scoring, while Benwick Athletic are third with two wins out of two after thrashing Wisbech Acorns 6-0. Ross Alexander (2), Jack Bracey (2), Matt Grainger and Gregory Hoffman scored the goals.

Previously unbeaten Guyhirn came crashing down to earth with a 7-2 beating at Soham United Youths Men's. Chatteris Town Reserves have now lost all three games after a 4-2 defeat at Burwell Tigers.

There was a first win of the season for Manea United in Kershaw Junior 3C, 1-0 at home against AFC Christchurch Magpies, Wayne Bostock scoring the all-important goal. Doddington United are now second bottom after losing 7-1 at home against Witchford 96 Reserves, Alphie Barrett scoring their goal.

March Academy lost 1-0 at league leaders Bluntisham Rangers Reserves.

In Kershaw Junior 4C March Academy Reserves after up to second after a 3-2 home win against Benwick Athletic Reserves, Fen Tigers Engineers drew 0-0 at home to Huntingdon United Reserves. Finally, Guyhirn Reserves went down 4-1 at Hartford Rangers.
