Double delight for Fenland RC King’s Lynn Park Run legend Milburn
Fenland Running Club kicked off the weekend racing with a mass turnout to honour legend Ian Milburn who was completing his 100th Park Run race at King’s Lynn.
Twenty five FRC runners accompanied Ian around the course while he finished in his customary 1st MV70 placing in a time of 22:43.
Ian’s namesake, Ian Milburn from Ryston Runners, who although faster, ran with Ian in tribute.

FRC also sent a team for the first time to the Cotswold 24 Hour Relay in Cirencester Park – and they came back with a top ten finish!
Entering as a mixed team of four men and four women, they ranked 8th out of 69 similar teams, completing 31 laps of the park within the 24-hour limit.
Sean Connolly, as captain, led from the front by posting quick times in the summer heat, while Martin Jennings completed three back-to-back laps also under 40 minutes. Tim Chapman led the team out for Lap 1 and was able to squeeze in a final fifth lap – Lap 31 – at the very end as the team was ahead of time.
With Pasquale Ruggiero completing the men’s entries, three women completed four laps apiece – Ellen Connolly, Nicky Jennings and Jay Gilbert – with Sharon Bird heroically completing two laps after coming back from injury.
Results: Team Fenland 14th overall (24:11—53) out of 255 entries – 280km. Tim Chapman 5 laps (3:24—46). On Sunday, a ladies contingent ran in the multi terrain Littleport Leisure 10K near Ely. In a field of 115, Sam Lyddiatt was first FRC lady home in a time of 54:21.
