The latest stock car racing at King's Lynn seen an intriguing battle between two entertaining drivers
The battle between two Wisbech superstars was taken up another notch at last weekend's racing.
Kieran Bowman and James Licquorice continued to fight it out at the top of the National Banger Entertainer League at King's Lynn, with the gap between the pair being narrowed to just ten points going into Friday's races.
Both were in full flow when it came to getting the crowd on their feet and picked up entertainer awards.
With Bowman racing better overall, however, he managed to extend his points lead over Licquorice to 45.
Brad Bartram was also in action, and Russell Gill achieved a second-place finish in the meeting final as his assault on the National Points Championship gathers pace.
In the 1300 stock cars event for local drivers, Ant Kerr continued his impressive vein of form with a heat victory.
Sonny Wright impressed with an eight-place drive in his heat, while Karl Morris was the best of any local drivers in the final as he crossed the line in seventh.
Dean Moat was on form in the star grade, working his way from the back of the grid to an eight-place result of his own.
This Saturday will see BriSCA action unfold at King's Lynn (5pm), with F1 and F2 stock cars taking centre stage.
For the F2 drivers, it will be the World of Shale Championship - their biggest race of the season.
Manea's Dave Polley will be starting from pole position on the grid, and will be looking to get revenge on a fellow front row driver who beat him to victory on the final corner of last month's meeting final.
2021 sensation Reece Cox will start on the second row after an outstanding season, while Ollie Skeels will be the third Wisbech representative on the grid.
Lee Green will hope to qualify through the last chance scheme.
Junior drivers stole the show at the track two weekends ago.
Levi Murkin recorded the best set of results after a third-place finish in the meeting final, while Keira Downey also pushed herself for a sixth-place result.
Dan Clarke was up there with the busiest drivers of the weekend; the Walpole St Peters star took part in all three National Banger formulas, as well as taking time to watch his niece Sophie Allen in action.
Clarke particularly impressed in the Old Skool formula with a second-place result in his XJS Jaguar.
He also picked up two entertainer awards in his veteran Suzuki Swift in the Pre 94 Micro Bangers race.
Former 2L Stock Car driver Jake Swann made a rare appearance in the Pre 90 Unlimited Bangers, showing up in a Series 2 Jaguar.
He promptly drove it to victory in the meeting final before crashing later on in the day.
James Ellis drove well in the same meeting final, finishing in second.
Lenny Murkin and Brad Bartram both drove in the 1500cc Bangers and Pre 94 Micro Banger events, and drew applause for their performances. Bartram collected a pair of runner-up finishes, and Murkin two wins.
