Wisbech brothers shine at British Boxing National Developments Championships
Wisbech brothers Jensen and Harley Burrows shone at the British Boxing National Developments Championships in Cannock, Staffordshire, with Harley taking a title and Jensen reaching the semi-finals.
Jensen and Harley both train at March Boxing Club, and brothers Harrison and Josh play football for Peterborough United and March Town respectively.
Unbeaten Harley, a promising 17-year-old, stepped into the ring in the Youth 75kg division, and exhibited incredible resilience and technical skill, knocking his opponent out in the second round on the way to his second national title in consecutive years.
His lightning-fast jabs and unyielding determination left him earning well-deserved praise from the spectators and judges. Harley now has an unbeaten record of 18-0 and a burning ambition to reach the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Jensen, the elder of the two siblings at 21, won the British Universities title in September and demonstrated his prowess, also in the Senior 75kg division, as he battled through to the semis with precision and finesse.
While he narrowly missed out on a chance to compete in the final due to the judges’ split decision, his performances left an impression. He now has a record of 10-2.
The Burrows brothers’ remarkable showing at the British Boxing Championships is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of their family and coach.
Both lads will be fighting at the March club’s Christmas show in December as well as competing in the national ABA tournament in January.
