Wisbech talking newspaper boosted by Masons
A Fenland charity will be the talk of the town after receiving a £1,000 donation.
Wisbech and District Talking Newspaper are pictured being presented with the large cheque from the Cambridge Freemason Lodges. The money was raised during performances of Jack and the Beanstalk, presented by 10 different Cambridge lodges, in January at the Newmarket Masonic Centre. The Arthur Rank Hospice and the Province of Cambridgeshire Masonic Building Fund also received donations. Isobel Shippey, secretary and press fficer of the Talking Newspaper, said: “We were completely shocked, but thrilled, to receive the news that we were to be the beneficiary of such a large donation. “It all came about after one of our committee members, John Richmond, had a chance conversation at last year’s Rose Fair with one of the Wisbech Masons. John wrote an outline of the work we did, submitted it for consideration and we were lucky enough to be chosen.”
