Wisbech shop plans orange windows and raffle for brothers’ fundraising efforts
A Fenland shop is supporting a local family and helping to raise awareness of a rare disease.
Robert Goddard in Bridge Street, Wisbech is turning its window displays orange for a week to help mark Batten Disease Awareness Day on June 9.
Staff at the clothes outlet have been busy collecting prizes ready for a huge raffle that is being held in the shop.
Tickets are £1 a strip and can be bought in Robert Goddard and all proceeds will go to the Pedal4Memories appeal which is being run by the Dodking family in Wisbech.
The Ben and Sarah Dodkin are raising money not only to create memories for their three boys, two of whom – Finley and Harrison have a rare strain of Batten Disease, but also for the Batten Disease Family Association.
Batten Disease is a life-limiting and degenerative nuerological disease that will not only rob the boys of their sight, but also their memory and physical abilities and eventually it will take them from their parents and middle brother Arthur too.
Sarah said the family were blown away with the prizes up for grabs and the support given by Robert Goddard.
Among the prizes are the following: £50 voucher from New Image Tattoo Studio Wisbech; £50 Holiday voucher from Sunlounger Travel - Wisbech; a free mini session from Nikola Embleton Photography; afternoon brunch for two at Dotties Tea Room; graze box for two at Evie’s sandwich bar; £50 voucher from The Garden Rose Company; free one day soccer camp with John Rowe J R sports; classic graze board for four people from The Norfolk Grazing Company; £100 cash prize donated by Damien Pearl; Lauren by Ralph Lauren handbag donated by Robert Goddard; £100 Robert Goddard voucher donated by Emerald Homes; a quality rug from Wisbech Carpet Warehouse; afternoon tea for two at the Snack Shack; a hamper from Spanish Cleaning Company and a voucher from Wisbech Escape Rooms.
