Well-known Fenland hotel is up for sale
A prominent Fenland hotel is currently on the market with a price tag of just under £2million.
The Elme Hall Hotel in Wisbech has gone up for sale with Colliers, who are offering the premises located on the A47 at £1.9million.
Owned and founded by Kevin and Cindy Wood, the hotel which was built in the mid to late 1980s, is owner-operated with five full-time staff, with a pool of 12 part-time members of staff - currently three-quarters are furloughed.
Elme Hall Hotel is a purpose-built hotel of Georgian inspired design. It has a galleried ballroom, which was added in 2003 as well as a detached two lodge, which was added in 2012 and has 34 bedrooms.
Colliers' brochure explains the hotel is offered for sale due to retirement adding that due to personal circumstance, it has under traded in recent years.
Pre COVID, it explains, the primary revenue streams included good levels of midweek corporate business complemented by occasional weekend leisure clientele.
However, the hotel was not fully capitalising on the income potential of its events rooms. Looking ahead, there is significant scope to grow these particular elements of the business.
The site extends to around three acres, including ample car parking. Colliers suggest that some buyers may wish to consider the scope (subject to planning) for redevelopment of the property.
The property also has a four-bedroom owner/staff apartment and four staff bedrooms.
Colliers' sales brochure continues: "First impressions are strong. The entrance hall features a striking staircase leading to the guest bedrooms. Design touches throughout the public areas include teak parquet floors, solid mahogany doors, decorative plaster moulding and friezes.
"Elme Hall's impressive three events rooms include: the galleried ballroom with capacity for around 350. A stunning and unrivalled function space within the local area, it has its own bar servery and direct kitchen access.
"The lounge (comfortably seating 120) which can be combined with the adjoining pink room creating an ideal venue for smaller weddings, meetings and conferences. Both rooms are served by the Piano Bar and have French windows accessing the large paved terrace."
