Wisbech family looking for new flights to dream wedding after Thomas Cook collapse
The dream wedding of a Wisbech couple has been affected by the collapse of Thomas Cook.
Lauren Stewart and Matthew Oxford will be tying the knot in Zante in October but three members of their family were due to fly-out on Thomas Cook flights.
The couple had chosen to get married in Zante as it has special significance for Lauren, who had enjoyed a family holiday on the island as a child. Sadly, Lauren lost her mum, Lisa Gardener, last year.
Thomas Cook employs 9,000 people, including 1,000 at the Peterborough headquarters, and went into liquidation during the early hours of Monday.
Lauren said: "Zante is a very special place to me. My earliest memory is being on the island. I chose it as I have a lot of happy memories of being there.
"It is upsetting but we will get it sorted one way or another.
"My sympathy goes to the people who have lost their jobs. They might have kids to feed and families to support. That for me is heartbreaking."
Two family members have been able to buy fresh flight tickets which cost more than £800.
But there are hopes that the third family member will be able to get another ticket and hotel package.
