He worked as a delivery boy from the age of 13 years. He passed his driving test at 17 and brought his first business paper round with just over 300 customers for £600.

Brian has built his business up since then and at its peak he had nearly 2,000 customers and was known as East Anglia’s largest independent newsagent.

He married Pauline at Tydd St Mary Church on January 1, 1968. They went on to have three children together, Sharon, Stuart and Stacey. Brian also has two other children Shaun and Ethan.

He also enjoyed golf with his brother Graham and his friends at Tydd St Giles Golf Club.

In 2014, he launched ‘Webbs Postal Service’, delivering post for his residential customers and local businesses to over 23 villages around this area.

This continued up until the end of March this year when due to his ill health the postal service had to stop. His newspaper business will still continue, but will be under a new name of ‘Keeley & Webb Newsagents Ltd’ and will be run by Sharon and her husband Glen with the help of Stuart and Stacey'
