Travellers ‘being evicted’ from King’s Lynn roundabout

Dozens of travellers who set up camp on Lynn’s Hardwick roundabout on Wednesday have been moved on by police this afternoon.

Members of the camp, which included 10 vehicles and up to 40 people, were asked to leave the site by Highways England officers earlier.

A police operation to disperse the camp is currently underway. Witnesses say only four caravans remain in the area.

Highways England earlier said it had worked with the Norfolk force to evict the camp.

A spokesman said: “We have been closely monitoring the site and working with Borough Council of Kings Lynn and Norfolk Police.

“We asked the travellers to leave and have since worked with Norfolk Police to evict them under the Public Order Act.”
