Tragedy as player dies during rugby game between Wisbech and Diss




Condolences have been pouring in after the death of a young rugby player on Saturday during a game in Wisbech.

The man in his twenties died after colliding with another player during the Eastern Counties League game between Wisbech and Diss at Harecroft Road.

Wisbech Rugby Club has confirmed the tragic incident and said it will be releasing a formal statement in due course.

More than 100 comments have been left under a post on Diss Rugby Club’s post, which reads: “Due to an unprecedented occurrence our 1XV game against Wisbech was abandoned today.”

Clubs offering condolences include West Norfolk, March Bears and dozens of others from across the eastern region.
