Wisbech Tesco shoppers donate food for 1,600 plus meals




Shoppers have helped a charity by donating a whopping 569kgs of food to a collection drive.

Tesco in Wisbech hosted volunteers from the town’s Foodbank on Friday (2) to help collect much-needed supplies to replenish their food stock.

The team collected the 569kgs of food, which is the equivalent of 1,625 meals.

A spokesperson for the Foodbank, which is based at the Baptist Church, on Hill Street, posted a thank-you on their Facebook page.

They said: “We are overwhelmed by just how much the people of Wisbech care and donate. Your generosity is heartwarming. Whether you donated one tin or a trolley full, thank you for caring about those in crisis.

“Last month we gave out 3,657kgs of food – just over 10,000 meals. Thank you for any support you were able to give us, we really do appreciate it.”
