Rubbish fire in Chatteris was deliberate

Billowing black smoke was seen over a Fenland town yesterday afternoon following a rubbish fire.

At just after 4pm on Sunday, fire crews from March and Stanground were called to a fire in the open on Fenton Way in Chatteris.

Firefighters arrived to find a large amount of rubbish well alight. They used hose reels to extinguish the fire and returned to their stations just after 5.30pm.
