Emneth Academy receives £1,000 from Worzals in Walton Highway for winning its Hop into Spring Easter art competition
A primary school has kicked off the new term with a £1,000 farm shop contest win.
Emneth Academy has been crowned the winner of Worzals’ Hop into Spring Easter art competition.
Pupils from a variety of schools were invited to create seasonal designs that would be displayed during the Walton Highway business’ Easter event so that visitors could vote for their favourite.
More than 10,000 people were welcomed to its site from April 5 until April 21, enjoying zip lines, slides, a scavenger hunt, tractor rides, games and a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny.
As well as the £1,000, the school will enjoy a free session for its Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 pupils at Worzals’ brand-new £300,000 undercover play park, which was recently unveiled.
“We’ve been absolutely blown away by the creativity and community spirit shown throughout this event,” said manager Connor Young.
“We’ve invested in something we believe our community will love, and the response has been incredible.
“This is just the beginning, the play park will now be open every weekend and is available for children’s birthday parties, so the fun doesn’t stop here.”
The school’s principal, Elaine Huntington, says she is very proud of her pupils.
“Their creativity and zest for life are a credit to them, their families and our super talented staff team,” she added.
“We are delighted that their artwork was voted for.
“The prize money is an absolute bonus at times when school budgets are very tight. Thank you so much.”
Other participating schools included Orchards Academy, Marshland St James Primary, Anthony Curtan Primary School, Guyhirn Primary School, Leverington Primary Academy, and West Walton.
The business thanked every pupil, parent, and teacher who helped make the Hop into Spring event a celebration of community, creativity, and connection.
With the new play park now a permanent feature for weekend fun and parties, Worzals wants to continue to offer experiences for families all year round.
