Praise for second March Armed Forces Fair as sunshine brings the crowds
The second March Armed Forces Fair (MAFF) has seen praise heaped upon praise for the organisers with people posting their thanks for a fantastic event all over social media.
Held on Sunday the event filled West End Park with stalls, attractions, military vehicles including tanks and even a Spitfire plane.
Visitors flocked to the event which was made a more permanent date in the town’s calendar after the success of last year’s inaugural MAFF.
Charities and organisations linked to the armed services, as well as other local groups, were all there to showcase what they had to offer including careers within the forces.
As well as the more serious side of the event there were also some more fun activities including a visit by the team from the Dad's Army Museum in Thetford and other military displays.
There was even a flypast from a Spitfire and a Hurricane thanks to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
The whole of the park was used by organisers to create the event, which also included a bus link to March railway station making it easier for visitors to attend.
There was also a more solemn moment with an Act of Remembrance to remember the fallen.
The sunshine helped attract the crowds and thousands turned out to enjoy what was on offer.
Events manager, and the man behind the initial idea, Lieutenant Colonel Nigel ‘Spence’ Spencer, paid a massive thank-you to all the dozens of groups and organisations that helped make the event such a huge hit with the crowds.
These included both the army and air cadets forces, March Town Council, local museums, the forces organisations and charities and all the numerous stall holders and exhibitors.
He said: “I am sorry that I am unable to ‘thank you’ individually at the moment, as there are a lot of reports and after event things that are still going on today.
“I would also like to thank everyone that attended the MAFF 2023 for your support in making this event a success, and on behalf of the Charities that took part, thank you for your donations.”
