Pop-up walk in booster clinics open up across county including at Doddington

Local residents eligible for their Covid-19 booster vaccination can now have it done on a walk-in basis at Doddington Hospital.

As part of the ongoing drive to deliver thousands more boosters to local patients a number of pop-up walk in clinics are opening up today (Wednesday, with more locations set to be confirmed.

Doddington Hospital, in Benwick Road, is among them and is offering walk-in jabs from 9am to 6pm today and tomorrow (Thursday).

Commenting on the ongoing expansion of the Covid-19 booster programme Dr Gary Howsam, CCG clinical chair said “We’ve been working around the clock to increase appointments available and these new walk in clinics mean we can now offer thousands of additional local residents the opportunity to receive their potentially life-saving booster before Christmas.

“Locally we have already delivered 387,000 booster vaccinations, and are giving thousands more daily. This would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of our GPs, pharmacists, hospital hubs, large scale vaccination centres, and volunteers who continue to work tirelessly to help protect communities against the new Omicron variant.”

“Anyone aged 18 or over who is eligible for their booster is encouraged to pop along to one of these pop-up walk in vaccination clinics over the coming days so you can ensure you protect yourself, your loved ones and our NHS. You can also continue to book an appointment if you prefer via the National Booking Service online or by calling 119.”

Anyone attending a walk in clinic is asked to ensure they also cancel any previous appointments they may have made through the National Booking Service to receive their booster at a later date, so that the slot can be freed up for another patient.

Since the Prime Minister announced the enhanced booster programme hospital hubs have all reopened, Primary Care Network sites are vaccinating again, large vaccination centres have increased their capacity and are looking to go further, and local community pharmacies are delivering more vaccinations in locations at the very heart of our local communities.

Any patient who has not yet had their first and second dose is also reminded that the offer of the vaccine will always remain. The Covid-19 vaccination is your best protection against Covid-19, so please visit www.thevaccinators.co.uk to find a walk-in for your first or second dose or book through the National Booking Service at www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine. You can call 119 to book if you don't use the internet.
