Police target illegal parkers in Whittlesey who leave cars on double yellow lines - despite having free car parks in town

Police issued numerous tickets to drivers parking on double yellow lines - despite there being free car parks moments away.

Officers conducted patrols around Whittlesey to tackle the ongoing issue.

On one occasion, four tickets were issued to cars parked on double yellow lines on Falcon Lane and St Marys Street.

Via the Policing Fenland Facebook page, officers said: “There are plenty of free car parks and places to park in Whittlesey, even if it means walking a little further to your destination.

“Illegal parking in the town is an issue that you have highlighted to us at our monthly police surgeries, and these regular patrols will continue, with tickets being issued to those found to be parked obstructively.”
