Wisbech St Mary Nissan dealership JS Holmes welcomes 171 solar panels to cut carbon footprint

A Nissan dealership has made a step towards reducing its carbon footprint with brand-new solar panels.

JS Holmes in Wisbech St Mary has welcomed 171 high-efficiency 445-watt panels to the showroom and workshop roof.

It is expected to meet nearly 40% of the company’s annual electricity needs with 75% of what is produced being used on-site and the other 25% to be fed to the grid.

This comes as the business looks to significantly reduce its reliance on external energy sources.

It is said that the system will prevent 16 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.

Company director Alex Holmes said: ‘‘We are committed to driving positive environmental change while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our operations.

‘‘Our investment in solar energy, alongside our dedication to electric vehicles, highlights our ambition to be at the forefront of the green transition.”

As well as reducing its operational carbon footprint, JS Holmes is supporting the transition to electric mobility, supplying more than 100 used electric vehicles, such as Nissan LEAFs and ARIYAs, in the past year.

Additionally, the company has switched to a renewable electricity tariff, made efforts to recycle oil, tyres and cardboard and adopted an environmentally friendly water-based paint system which was introduced in the body shop last year.

“We would like to thank local company 4 Way Group for installing our new solar power system – we had a great experience with them,” Alex added.

‘‘With our strong focus on sustainability, we continue to demonstrate that environmental responsibility and commercial success can go hand in hand.’’
