New mayor for Wisbech following annual ceremony




There was a change of venue for the annual Wisbech Town Council mayor making ceremony on Friday (May 21).

Instead of the usual gathering at the council chambers on North Brink councillors attended the more Covid-friendly ceremony held in the grounds of Wisbech Castle to witness Councillor Andrew Lynn be sworn in to take over the chain of office.

Coun Lynn, whose mayoress will be his wife Reema, took over the town's leading role from outgoing mayor Aigars Balsevics.

Coun Susan Wallwork, was sworn in as the new deputy mayor and will have husband David by her side as consort for the upcoming civic year of office.

Councillors and officials wore their formal robes.
