New Cambridgeshire Community Lottery to boost charitable funding after getting green light

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation has announced the upcoming launch of its new fundraising initiative for good causes.

The new initiative, Cambridgeshire Community Lottery, will be a great way for people to support causes whilst getting the chance to win cash prizes.

Leading lottery management company, Gatherwell, has been appointed by the Foundation to run the new fundraiser, having already launched similar elsewhere.

When the lottery launches on May 20, people will be able to purchase tickets online and support the cause of their choice.

Tickets will cost £1 a week, and players will be entered into a weekly draw to be in with a chance of winning a jackpot of £25,000, with other prizes including £2,000, £250 and £25.

Causes will keep 50% from every ticket they sell and a further 10% will go to Cambridgeshire Community Foundation to support other local causes.

The remainder of the ticket cost will be put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.

The Foundation is hosting an online launch event on the first day for causes which would like to find out how they could benefit from the Cambridgeshire Community Lottery.

Charities, community groups, sports clubs, PTAs, and other non-profit organisations making a difference in the county are all invited to take part.

Michael O’Toole, Cambridgeshire Community Foundation’s CEO, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to support their chosen local cause whilst being in with the chance to win something for themselves.

“It is great for ticket buyers, for local good causes, and for the wider Cambridgeshire community too.”

Causes can find out more and secure their free place for the online launch at www.cambscf.org.uk/lottery/
