Murrow produces a great flower and vegetable show
Villagers of all ages joined in the fun of the annual flower and vegetable show at Murrow on Saturday.
The village hall was brimming with over 200 entries for the various classes making the judges job a difficult one.
Maureen Woollard and a team of helpers put the displays in order and did all the preparations for what has been described as a hugely successful event.
As well as the home grown produce there were also classes for preserves and jams, as well as baking and young people also had some categories of their own to join in.
The day started with the morning's judging when prizes were awarded for first, second and third in each of the classes.
Doors to the hall were then thrown open to the public to admire the produce and flowers on show.
One of the organisers Julia Morley said: "It was a fantastic day, our most successful to date. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and despite the difficult growing conditions this year we had an amazing number of entries - over 200 which is our most ever.
"The auction at the end of the day was a lot of fun and everyone really got into the spirit with the bidding. In all we raised £400 for the benefit of the village hall and playing field.
"I would like to thank everyone who helped make it such a success and to everyone who took as well as those came along to enjoy the day."
A Bramley apple pie baked by Sarah Wheeler was the star of the day scooping the best in show prize and going on to sell well into double figures at the auction, which ended the day and saw all the produce and other entries sold off by Gavin Booth and his team of runners, putting smiles on the winning bidders' faces.
