MP Steve Barclay drops in for breakfast
MP Steve Barclay popped in for a fried breakfast and a chat at a special club in a Fenland village at the weekend.
The Health Secretary and MP for North East Cambridgeshire joined the 26 regulars at the Gorefield Breakfast Club held at the village community centre on Saturday.
It was the monthly meeting of the club, which has been running for a number of years and meets on the first Saturday of the month.
The club is run by Alan and Barbara holt with help from local councillors Sam Clark and Michael Humphrey, and is aimed at offering a place for men to meet and have a chat.
Sam said: "There are a lot of clubs for women, but not so many just for men and the Gorefield Breakfast offers them a chance to get together, enjoy a cooked breakfast and socialise.
"We use all fresh produce from the local butchers and we regularly serve up around 26 to 30 breakfasts to men of all ages who come along.
"We do need to know numbers and so anyone who has not been before but would like to join should contact Michael on 01945 410436 to book their place for next month."
