Peterborough is the nearest McDonald's drive-thru for Fenland residents
McDonalds has announced that it will be reopening a number of its drive-thru lanes from today.
The chain has reopened drive-thru lanes at a total of 39 stores across the country, which will be open until 10pm with safety measures in place.
In the UK, 23 are open for Drive-thru only, 10 are open for Drive-thru and McDelivery, plus an additional 5 restaurants are operating McDelivery only.
Unfortunately, the Wisbech and Long Sutton restaurants remain closed. However, stores are open in Peterborough.
Boongate, Bourges Boulevard, Eye Green, Glinton, Hampton and at the city's Morrison's store.
Safety measures which have been introduced include:
- Capped spend in drive-thrus at £25 per car and customers are encouraged to pay by contactless payment methods wherever possible.
- Perspex screens at drive-thru windows and employees wearing protective equipment, as well as Perspex screens and floor markings in specific areas in the restaurant and kitchen.
- All McDonald’s employees will be asked to confirm they are fit and able to work, and the company will use contactless thermometers with temperatures taken on arrival at work for every shift.
- Social distancing has been introduced in the kitchens and service areas to help create a safe working environment for restaurant teams.
Restaurants will return with smaller teams, offering a limited menu.
