March Cavalry Primary School has achieved the gold schools games mark after a year of sporting achievement
After a year of sporting achievement Cavalry Primary School in March has been awarded the gold school games mark.
Pupils have made a total of 474 appearances in a variety of sports and competitions.
The school competed in an outstanding 28 tournaments with 48 teams achieving successes that include victories in tag rugby, hockey, athletics, cricket, gymnastics and football.
Pupils have been able to enjoy a range of sports thanks to the Witchford Sports Partnership and as well as the team successes there have also been top individual performances too.
This year saw a number of students compete n six county competitions after finishing first in Level 2 events. Sports competed at county level include football, cricket and hockey for Years 5/6 and and gymnastics and tennis for Years 3/4.
Callum Brown, of Cavalry said: "All students who represented the school at county level this year have been amazing and very determined – this was shown when the tennis team finished fourth in the county.
"This year also saw Cavalry Primary School enter the March and District swimming competition hosted by Neale -Wade Academy and come away winners. The speed and dedication shown by the swimmers was brilliant."
The last competition of the school year saw eight pupils fro Years 5/6 represent the school in a mixed football tournament hosted by Kingsfield Primary School in Chatteris with the March team coming away victorious having not conceded a goal.
Callum added: "WE would like to thank East Coast Building and Maintenance Ltd and Elmhurst Electrical for sponsoring the teams t-shirts and hoodies. The children have looked very smart and professional when turning up to competitions."
