Inquest opens into death of 31-year-old Wisbech man Arvydas Petrauskas, whose body was found in River Nene
A 31-year-old father-of-two who went missing from Wisbech is likely to have drowned, an inquest has heard.
Arvydas Petrauskas, who was last seen on Friday, March 21, in Wisbech, was discovered 13 days later when his body was spotted in the River Nene.
Area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Elizabeth Grey, opened the inquest on Thursday, May 22, at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon.
At a brief hearing, Ms Grey said that Mr Petrauskas was discovered at the Port of Wisbech on April 3.
His death was reported to the coroner and was confirmed by a detective inspector at 1.03pm.
Ms Grey recorded the cause of death as drowning and adjourned the inquest to take place on December 2.
His family, who paid tribute to him at the beginning of April, said he was a beloved son, dad and husband, and his death has left a profound impact on those who knew him, especially his two young children whom “he was a hero for.”
