Penny said: ''I joined Slimming World as I couldn't bear looking at myself in the mirror any more. I hated seeing clothes I wanted but could never wear.

"I couldn't even do the most simple tasks without running out of breath and I knew something had to change. Since joining Slimming World I have become a new version of me, I'm finally beginning to love and be kind to myself. I no longer feel anxious when going clothes shopping, I can choose and feel good in whatever I want.

"I have become fitter and can walk for hours now and I am enjoying life and activities so much more. The food on Slimming World is amazing, I never feel like I'm missing out on anything and I never go hungry (not like other diets I've tried) I now love planning and preparing meals as a family.

"My consultant, Tina, and group are like my Slimming World family, everyone is so supportive and wonderful. They truly make this experience easier, I no longer feel alone. I know eventually I will achieve the goal I want as I have them all by my side and through Slimming World I have everything I need to get me there.'

"So when Tina explained the sponsored event Slimming World was holding for Cancer Research I knew I wanted to do something to help such a worthy cause, cancer effects all of us in one way or another through our lives.

"I also wanted to do something personal to me and my journey, I knew this would keep me focused and I wanted to celebrate how far I had come. I then decided after losing 82lb, I would walk 82km (nearly 51 miles) which my son kindly pointed out is the equivalent of walking from Wisbech to Norwich.

"Before my Slimming world journey, I wouldn't walk and I hated it, however with each walk for my sponsorship I found it a little easier and I began enjoying being out in nature and taking in what was around me, and enjoying the thinking time. Some walks were more difficult but I was determined that I would complete this not only for Cancer Research but for me also, to celebrate how far my weight loss achievements.

"Now my walk has been completed I feel invigorated to keep active and I’m enjoying being a fitter version of me. I still make sure I fit an enjoyable walk around my busy life, I enjoy it so much and it’s great for my mental health and me time."
