Help with your bus pass application is available from Cambridgeshire Libraries

Cambridgeshire Libraries has re-introduced face to face support for residents who need help with applying for or renewing their concessionary bus pass.

Since April 2021, bus passes have been administered by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, with over half of all applications made online. For those residents who are not comfortable with digital technology, have literacy issues or other difficulties in completing their application, library staff can guide them through the process.

Councillor Tom Sanderson, chair of Cambridgeshire’s communities, social inclusion and mobility committee, said: “We understand that many of our residents may need extra help with their concessionary bus pass applications, so we are pleased that under the current national restrictions we have been able to re-introduce face to face support through our libraries.

“Although residents should apply online themselves as a first port of call where they are able to, we welcome those who would like support to come into their local library. Our team can help them through the application process from start to finish, making sure that all the information needed is complete and a photo provided. Covid safe measures will be in place, including screens and social distancing, so residents can feel confident in seeking help.”

Bess Sayers, public transport business manager for the Combined Authority, said: “Applying online is the quickest way for people to get or to renew their bus pass. I urge those people who need extra help to use this service, it is easy and friendly and there just for you. At the Combined Authority we want to make sure that we listen and have compassion for people who need support when applying, which is why we are delighted that the libraries are open and working collaboratively with us to support all our communities.”
