Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough welcomes new chair Jonathan Jelley MBE JP
A man who is committed to making the right decisions for patients has taken over the role as chair for a health organisation.
Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough announced the appointment of a new chair on Wednesday to succeed Stewart Francis, who is stepping down this month after nearly four years as strategic lead of the organisation.
Jonathan Jelley MBE JP took up his appointment on Thursday with the commitment of ensuring patients and service users remain at the heart of decision-making in the development of local health and care services.
Alongside a successful career in investment banking, where Jonathan held senior corporate roles for more than 30 years, he has also spent more than 20 years volunteering with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
Jonathan currently serves as a Presiding Justice and chairs several local and regional boards supporting community and voluntary work.
Jonathan’s appointment comes at a time of ongoing change and new challenges across health and social care services.
One of his priorities will be to ensure Healthwatch continues to play a critical role in ensuring patient voices are heard at every level of our health and care system.
Jonathan said: “I am delighted to introduce myself as the new chair of Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. In doing so, I pay tribute to my predecessor Stewart Francis, who led us with real impact and integrity.
“We are in the midst of major reform across health and social care – and now more than ever, it is vital that patients and service users remain at the heart of decision making.
“Healthwatch plays a crucial role in making sure those voices are heard and acted upon, and I will be working with our staff and volunteers to ensure we remain a trusted and influential voice in shaping better care for all.”
