Around 350 teenagers from across Cambridgeshire including March, Chatteris, Wisbech and Whittlesey have been enjoying a week of adventurous fun with the county's Army Cadet Force.

Over eight days the army cadets aged between 13 and 18 have been taking part in activities including kayaking, wall climbing, military operations and archery while at the West Tofts Camp in Thetford Forest.

Some of the young people have been field camping, having built their own shelters and dining out on army rations while practicing their military skills with exercises involving capturing an 'enemy position' and using blank ammo.

They have also enjoyed laser quest, learning to ride motorcycles and riding a trail through the forest as well as swimming at nearby RAF Honnington.

They have had support from Rev Rick Parkinson, from Wisbech St Mary and who is the local cadet padre. He has been leading a team offering welfare support, which involves providing emergency transport (if needed) and luxuries such as confectionary for the cadets.

In the evenings, at the end of their day, the cadets have kicked back in the Naffi where they can enjoy potted sports, games and socialising before lights out.
