Fenland car scheme is back in action after lockdown
A scheme which offers lifts to Fenland people is returning to normal service as the coronavirus lockdown continues to ease.
Chatteris, Doddington, Benwick and Manea Community Car Scheme had to change its service during lockdown and instead of taking people to appointments turned its attention to collecting prescriptions and shopping for vulnerable people, isolating because of the virus.
However, from this week (July 13) normal service is resuming and so people living in Chatteris, Doddington, Benwick or Manea can now book a volunteer driver to take them shopping, medical or social appointments or for other trips.
There is a small charge to cover drivers' expenses and the service is open to anybody who needs it. The scheme operates Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and bookings (preferably 24 hours in advance) can be made by calling 07944814156.
More drivers are needed so anyone with spare time and their own car would be welcome, all will be DBS checked. Contact the number above.
