Extension plans for Oasis Grill Bar restaurant in Wisbech to increase customers

Plans by a Wisbech eatery to extend their premises will help generate more customers and provide more jobs.

That is the hope behind proposals by the Oasis Grill Bar based on the Mount Pleasant Trading Estate, submitted in a planning application to Fenland District Council this week.

The business owner Mr T Weaver has applied for permission for a change of use for part of the building to extend the existing cafe/restaurant and drinking establishment, along with some external alterations, which are part-retrospective.

A design and access statement drawn up by Peter Humphrey Associates in support of the application explains that the design of a new entrance is retrospective, as is the layout.

It explains the restaurant is located on an industrial site within a building previously used for storage/distribution.

The statement adds: “Due to the increase of floor space, the business will be able to generate more custom and employ more staff to accommodate the increase, to generate a public and community benefit.”

The statement says the expansion of floorspace will meet the needs of the current clientele and patron numbers.

“In conclusion, this development provides a public benefit to expand an established restaurant and a growth benefit to a local business,” concludes. Therefore, development is considered appropriate.”
