Exciting plans for Doddington playground fun

Villagers are being asked to get behind an exciting project to regenerate a playground for children to enjoy.

Doddington Recreation Committee’s playground subcommittee has announced its plans to regenerate the Benwick Road playground.

The move comes after a health and safety assessment revealed that some of the existing equipment is nearing the end of its life.

With only one other small play park for young children in the village, the subcommittee said it is committed to “making Benwick Road playground a vibrant, challenging, and inclusive space” for little ones.

The group has reviewed proposals from various suppliers and weighed up the options against costs.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We’re thrilled to announce that we've selected a new design. Our goal is to create a play area that will not only excite the children but also fit beautifully with the rural charm of our location.

“As we embark on the exciting journey to regenerate the Benwick Road playground, we want to share that the cost of this project is significant.

“To bring our vision to life, we’ll be applying for funding to cover the majority of the expenses, but we need your help to show our commitment by raising a portion of the costs from within our community.

“To strengthen our grant application, we need as much supporting information as possible from you, our community members. We kindly ask you to take a few minutes to complete a short and simple survey. Your feedback will be invaluable in helping us secure the necessary funding.”

The spokesperson added: “Thank you for supporting this important village project! Together, we can create a fantastic playground for our children.”

The selected design will be a multi-play type structure in the shape of an old galleon with slide, different level platforms and various climbing facilities. We will also be providing different types of swings, including a 'bird nest' swing, educational play boards, shark springer, clatter bridge and stepping stones.
