Early morning river crash on Forty Foot Road near Chatteris claims one life




Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash on a Fenland river road which happened in the early hours of today.

The incident happened along the Forty Foot Bank at around 2.26am and involved a single vehicle.

A police spokesperson said: “A car had gone into the water. Police, firefighters and paramedics attended, and one person has sustained fatal injuries.”

The road was closed for some time, but re-opened around 6am.

The spokesperson added: “Anyone with information should report to us online or call 101 quoting Operation Blight, or incident 30 of March 7.
