Denial of Hunstanton theatre’s claims

Claims that a West Norfolk theatre has not been able to advertise have been denied.

The Princess Theatre in Hunstanton issued a statement claiming KL.FM has refused to advertise its forthcoming pantomime following objections from Lynn Corn Exchange earlier this week.

But these claims have been refuted by the managing director of the commercial radio station, Darren Taylor.

He said KL.FM was happy to advertise the theatre’s Aladdin show.

Mr Taylor said: “We are very keen to work with the Princess Theatre but did not want to sell two lots of pantomime tickets within our voucher scheme.”

The Corn Exchange’s head of programming and marketing Nina McKenna has also denied the Princess Theatre’s claims.

She said: “We absolutely do not have the right or authority, nor will we, tell KL.FM who they can and cannot work with.

“We wish the Princess Theatre all the best of success. We are not trying to hamper their progress.”

The Princess Theatre email stated: “Once upon a time, in a far off land known as Hunstanton, the lovely Princess was approached by KLFM to join in with their Voucher Shops scheme to promote her pantomime, Aladdin.

“All was well for a while but then The Princess got the bad news that unfortunately, KL.FM found they were unable to promote Aladdin after all as the Lynn Corn Exchange had objected.”
