Deer trapped in the River Nene in Wisbech rescued by firefighters and port staff




Firefighters rescued a deer after it became trapped in the river in Wisbech.

Fire crews from Wisbech, Stanground, and Dogsthorpe were called at 10.12am on Monday to reports of an animal in water in Nene Quay in town

Firefighters arrived to find a deer trapped in the River Nene.

Using specialist equipment, firefighters worked alongside the Marine Services team from Wisbech Port and Yacht Harbour to rescue the deer and release it into a safe space.

The crews returned to their stations by noon.
