Mayor of Whittlesey’s Charity Duck Race was a quacking success
A quacking event attracted crowds as rubber ducks flocked to a river.
The Mayor of Whittlesey’s Charity Duck Race, which took place on Easter Monday, was another huge success with 1,000 ducks entering the pond striving to be a champion, despite the wet weather.
Two packed river banks of families followed the ducks as they were encouraged along the course with a bit of assistance from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue and their hoses.
The winning duck owner was Phillipa Cattemole with Duck 887, who won £100 sponsored by the Whittlesey Sports Association.
It won by a beak over duck 177 owned by Angela Lawrence, who bagged herself £75 sponsored by Poppys’ Coffee Bar.
And in third place was duck number 422 owned by Isaac Duncan, who scooped £50 sponsored by Coles Barbers.
