Officers and paramedics were called to the B1050 Station Road where it crosses the Guided Busway near Northstowe, Cambridgeshire, at about 2pm yesterday, following reports of the collision.

The driver of the second bus, a 44-year-old woman from Gedney Hill, is still in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, seriously injured, while ten others who were also taken in for treatment suffered minor injuries.

At the time, the fire engine was responding to an emergency call and was travelling north when it collided with a single-decker Stagecoach bus heading to St Ives.

The other bus, driven by the woman, was going in the opposite direction.

No arrests have been made, but Cambridgeshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information.

Detective Inspector Garry Webb said: “This was a major collision which has seen numerous people left injured.

“I would like to hear from anyone who has yet to speak to officers about the collision.”

Anyone with information or who has dashcam footage of the collision is being asked to report it through the force website here using reference CC-16042025-0279.

Alternatively, anyone without internet access can call 101.
