March couple 'brave the shave' at daughter's wedding.
A March couple chose the perfect occasion to raise money for a cancer charities by ‘braving the shave’ at their daughter’s wedding.
Kevin and Karen Purse wanted to support three good causes by shaving their hair at the reception of their youngest daughter Gemma and her new husband Daniel at St Wendreda's Church Hall in March.
The couple were inspired to support the charity as a relative is undergoing treatment for cancer.
Their other daughter Kimberley was in charge of the razor.
Kevin and Karen were joined in the fundraising efforts by friend Tracey Bennett.
He said: “Karen said she wanted to have it done and I suggested that we do it at the wedding.
“It just snowballed from there . It was a spur of the moment thing for Tracey.
“We waited for the end of the reception to do it. They gathered around us. We had a lot of cheers.
“We had seen Brave The Shave on television and this was something we could do. My wife has been in a wheelchair for 30 years with Cerebral Palsy. I have rheumatoid arthritis and a broken back."
Macmillan Cancer Support are also interested in the couple's wedding fundraising.
Karen and Kevin are hoping to raise more than £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They are also fundraising for Ring the Bell and end of life care in Peterborough.
