Conservative’s Chris Boden re-elected for Whittlesey North on Cambridgeshire County Council

A Conservative councillor has managed to keep his seat in the Cambridgeshire County Council elections.

Cllr Chris Boden says he “will continue to do his best for people and work as hard as he can” after it was announced that he will remain the representative for Whittlesey North.

Taking the victory today with 1,215 votes - a few hundred ahead of Reform UK candidate Kevin Marston - he plans to give people “their own voice”.

He said: “I am pleased to have been re-elected - it means I have another three years of hard work to do, which I am up for.

“It is really important that we recognise what the elections are about, and elections are about giving people the chance to have their say.

“And if you want to give people to have a chance to have a voice, you’ve got to listen to that voice. I think all of us need to listen, especially when we see the results we have seen today in the elections.

“I will continue to do my best for them, and work as hard as I can for them over the years. “

“We have got some local issues, we have particular issues to do with our road network - but we have also got a major issue coming up, which is local government reorganisation.

“I have to try to make sure that we get the best deal that we can for Whittlesey and for Fenland with local government reorganisation, which is going to fundamentally change the way in which we have local government in three years' time.”

Other nominees for Whittlesey North were:

• Clare Delderfield (Liberal Democrat) – 97

• Angela Howe (Labour) – 213

• John Male (Green Party) – 144

• Kevin Ian Michael Marston (Reform UK) – 947
